this survey lasted from october 25 2004 to march 24 2005, took a period of 150 days and navigated safely over 26500sea miles. via standing the test of gales and billows of the westerly and ice-covered severe cold and anoxic environment, the team accomplished 27 scientific surveys and 24 logistic support tasks in more than 10 disciplines, including oceanography, glacier theory, meteorology, climatology geology, biography and topography. it was one of the greatest scientific survey activity having centurial scale of our country, featuring important scientific meaning and outstanding demonstration of the nation.
being a member of the survey team, comrade cui penghui also paid hard effort and made great contribution for the fulfillment of this task. the banners of the academy and qinghai qinggong machinery corporation also flaunted against the wind on the apogee on south pole.
the bulldozer of qinghai qinggong machinery corporation, a subsidiary of the academy also played an important role in the survey. heretofore qinggong bulldozers had three times entered the south pole and twice ascended on the icecap. there are now machines from qinggong machinery corporation under the academy operating in zhongshan station and changcheng station at south pole, currently in good condition
