tianjin academy of construction machinery was established in 1961. it was a first category comprehensive institute directly affiliated to the former ministry of machinery and the technical concentration unit of countrywide construction machinery industry. it was assessed by national science commission one of the top 300 science and technology research institutes having maximum comprehensive strength in science and technology and operation results. in 1999, it was transformed into a scientific and technological enterprise as one of the first group of 242 institutions of the whole country. in 2001, it was renamed as tianjin research academy of construction machinery (referred to hereafter as the academy) through approval. during the 40 odd years since the establishment, the academy has accomplished more than 600 science and technical problem-tackling projects and obtained 84 prizes of scientific and technical progress of national, provincial level. it is now undertaking 4 projects of national high & new tech “863” plan.

　　currently, the academy possessed 15 affiliated enterprises, among which are one market-listing company, 6 wholly-owned subsidiary companies, share-holding subsidiary companies, one affiliated collective enterprise and one affiliated school, and 2 enterprises of 2nd category. the academy is also the acknowledged leading unit in technology in domestic construction machinery industry. the three associations of construction machinery, the quality supervision/inspection center, standardization center, information center, technology exchange center, 《construction machinery and equipment》publisher, general network of chinese construction machinery are all stationed in the academy.

　　in order to create a larger and stronger enterprise, the party commission of the academy brought our the “three important strategies” and “three 5-year program” to draw a magnificent blueprint for the development of the enterprise and put into execution step-by-step. in september 2003, the agreement of purchasing the share power of chinese external construction corporation was signed and the reorganization of 6 factories and one school and the reform work started so that the first step of integrating tinjing construction machinery industry has stridden. at the end of last year, the purchasing of china external construction development corporation and 6 other enterprises was accomplished so that this *st company, the china external construction development corporation which suffered loss for 2 continuous years made up the deficits and got surpluses. in april 2004, tianjin daye logistics co. ltd was reorganized to develop formally with logistics as property.

　　in order to implement scientific and technical innovation, the academy emphasized the research of high and new tech projects with nation “863” plan as core, among which the “intelligent pavement construction machinery” project has broken through the situation of the monopolization of intelligent control technology of construction machine by foreign companies. in the meantime, with “863” projects as turning point, results in the four aspects: network/cad/plm/erp have been achieved and information service management of the enterprise was being deployed all-around. international exchange and cooperation works were developed actively to explore international market, the academy signed the contract for technical know-how license with cifa, italy, to manufacture the 44m3 concrete pump transit truck and came into an intention with italian carraro group company to establish a joint venture for axle casing.

　　the academy requisitioned an area of 400mu (264,000m2) at tianjin hi-tech industrial park and constructed by program the tianjin construction machinery science & technology property base. the founding ceremony was held on march 9 2004 and broke earth pm april 20. the construction items of the project went on smoothly so far, no unsafe accidents occurred and created conditions for the implementation of the whole moving. synchronously, the segregation of principal and auxiliary and the reform of auxiliary system went on in an orderly way.

　　the academy paid attention to the building of enterprise culture, cultivate and always gave publicity to the sprit of the enterprise “always striving for the first”, nurse the common value of the whole staff and develop the construction of moral civilization. the academy has been granted advanced moral civilization unit of the country, the party commission has been assessed 5 times successively advanced party commission of city level, the academy has been assessed 10 times successively advanced unit of moral civilization construction unit of city level and excellent enterprise and model of contributions. there were 11 persons assessed as model worker of the country, of the city and model of contributions.
